When we launched Levi’s Project in August 2019, we set ourselves a goal of raising $3m in 3 years. It was pie-in-the-sky kinda stuff, and we put it out there to motivate ourselves as much as a call to arms for others to join our fight. We promised we would do everything we could to make a dent in DIPG’s death march towards our children, and with you by our side, just 18 months down the track, we’ve reached our target.
There’s been so many highlights along the way: our Charity Fair, Goals for Levi, Chrissy Trees for a Cause and The Levi’s Project Raffle. In between the big events you’ve baked cakes, staged morning teas, manned lemonade stalls, sold bookmarks and wristbands, fronted up for fun-runs, set up workplace giving, hosted sausage sizzles, meditation events, beanies for brain cancer days and mufti days. You’ve donated your birthday money, your Christmas money, your pocket money. All of it hard-earned and none of it wasted.
We’ve been able to employ three scientists at Children’s Cancer Institute for three years. They are hard at work developing two clinical trials for kids with DIPG this year, as well as some potentially game-changing research you can read about in our Research News section. We’re part of a movement where awareness has increased and gains are being made. There’s foundations like ours all over the world, formed when little people have left us too soon, and together we’re building a powerful legacy for the ones that come behind.
We’ll keep going of course. We can’t stop. Because these kids deserve more than a 0% survival rate.
This is for Levi and all the other DIPG warriors and angels.
Say their names.
Let them live through what we do in their honour.
May we never forget them.
